To coincide w/ their SoCal debut, we invited Yusuke-san of Lazy Neighbors Diner to curate this edition of our “not vinyl” playlist series + join us for a quick exchange of words on the mics via FaceTime, which we present to you here.
Also, shout out to Yusuke-san for getting his first podcast recording out of the way and for doing it in his second language of English! Despite being a little nervous at first, we got into some laid back convo about food, music and some context around his Lazy Neighbors Diner pop-up, which he started in his hometown in Japan. The pop-up turns 6 this year and has now officially relocated to California, specifically Northern California, where Yusuke-san now calls home alongside his wife Saya. His visit to Lp will mark his first pop-up in Southern California.
The playlist is very evident of this bi-coastal lifestyle that Yusuke has lived between Japan and California, with a solid mix of English and Japanese tracks, much like his menu which plays with flavors from the East + West. If you happen to be in San Diego tonight, drop by to say hello, maybe have a “hand’ chopped” Japanese style burger and some “obanzai” snacks.
