OPENING RECEPTION: XARENI LIZARRAGA / FRIDAY 8 AUGUST 2025
It seems like all we needed was a little push to get the momentum going again…
We organized our first gallery show of the year back in March w/ Oceanside’s very own, Brok Wood. This was a big deal for us because we had taken an approximate year long hiatus from doing any gallery exhibits, therefore getting back on board ignited the flame once again. Ultimately, this provided the momentum to start exploring our next guest artists and ideas for future shows.
I met Xareni back in 2022 when we had our official opening circa October and we immediately became good friends. As a fellow border kid, lover of cultura norteña and music aficionado, it was a natural fit that we would at some point link up to work on something besides her occasional cameos behind the decks at Lp. I’m always mega intrigued when I meet individuals who I would classify as multi-hyphenates, especially when they manage to be badass and also be amazing parents; it seizes to amaze me!
Xareni and I have been talking about making this show happen for a minute now therefore I’m happy to finally put a date on it. We linked up w/ our good friend and fellow border human, Victor Sanchez, to help us put together the show. We got the tremendous support from our amazing neighbor, Octavio, who helped us refresh the space and upgrade our some of our electrical to get it in prime hosting mode; gracias family. We’re so happy to welcome Xareni, who will be exhibiting her works from August till October 2025.
As with every new art show at Lp, we’re throwing a little Opening Reception party to celebrate the moment, here’s the details:
