OPENING RECEPTION: VICTOR SÁNCHEZ / THUR 23 OCT 2025
Damn 2025 flew by… and just like that, here we are announcing our final Opening Reception of the year.
The goal of doing 4 shows per year sounds like a simple plan but as always, the simpler the product, the more complicated the process. But we’re cool w/ this, because IYKYK the process is always the best part of it :-) This year we sure got close to the goal w/ 3 art shows coming to life in 2025 and not only that, this year was also marks the year that we came out of our art show “hibernation,” and for that we’re ultra grateful; that’s MEGA.
A big reason for the return of art shows to Lp, has been thanks to my homie Victor Sanchez. We linked up to revive what we both felt was once a core part of the shop’s identity and overall vibe. We missed having art on the walls—hosting artists and their friends, celebrating their work. It’s always been an honor. I first started talking with Victor about helping coordinate our art projects back in 2024, but things really started moving after a conversation we had at Brok Wood’s Opening Reception in March.
Brok’s exhibit was the first after a long hiatus, and it came together completely organically—there wasn’t even a follow-up plan in place (like, who’s next?). I’d always wanted to bring back more art shows, but honestly, I just didn’t have the bandwidth—I was busy AF. The intention, though, never left: to keep investing in culture however we can. During Brok’s opening reception—a party for the books—Victor and I had a conversation that ended up laying the groundwork for reviving the art shows at Lp.
We’ll share more about Victor’s origins, his journey in the art world and more about how we met in the following publication that we’ll be communicating soon. We asked Victor to join us as a guest on our podcast series “not vinyl,” where we also share the details on our next art show, which also happens to be his own! “Everything Is A Blur” will be Victor’s first art show since his last exhibit in El Paso and it comes at a time where the world is an even crazier place, hence the name of the show. We’ll get into more of the details soon but in the meantime, throw these details on your calendar or simply keep them on the radar if you’re in San Diego this month.
